Carta de España quiere expresar su más profundo pesar y solidaridad ante la tragedia provocada por los recientes terremotos que han sacudido Venezuela - Carta España

This catastrophe has hit a country historically linked to Spain, where one of the largest communities of Spaniards resides abroad, with special severity. Today, that link translates into shared pain. We deeply regret the loss of human lives and convey our affection and closeness to all affected families.

In particular, we want to remember the Spanish people who died and disappeared, including Isabel Jara Noda, delegate of the government of the Canary Islands in that country, as well as those who remain injured or continue to be sought. Their situation challenges us as a society and reinforces the commitment to accompany and not leave behind our citizens abroad.

At times like these, the importance of solidarity, international cooperation and coordinated action by public services, especially the consular network, which works on the ground to care for those affected, becomes visible.

From Carta de España, as a publication at the service of Spanish citizens abroad, we also want to value the strength of the Spanish community in Venezuela, its capacity for resistance and its associative fabric that, once again, is helping to provide support to those who need it most.

We join the mourning of the Venezuelan people and reiterate our support for all those affected, in the conviction that the collective response, inside and outside Venezuela, will help move towards recovery.
